One out?
We note recent attempts to "out" the identity of The One on the recently active but still disen-CBRA'd Corktown E-List, and thought it appropriate to provide our perspective on the matter, as well as obtaining some comments from The Accused - local webmaster extraordinaire, Chris Hutcheson - or Hutchinson, as he's known in some circles. Circles also frequented by local Percyite "Wendy" Wilkey, we understand...
We quote, herewith, from a recent far-reaching interview:
The One: "What's your relationship to the FWIS website?"
CH: "I have, for a little over a year now, resold hosting space, primarily for sites I design and maintain for clients. These sites include chrishutcheson.com, ideaworldhq.com (my photography and training sites), as well as a number of other commercial, sport and not-for-profit sites, including the FWIS site, and of course, the now-moribund Corktown site. For most of my client sites, others produce the content, I just build the site and teach them how to use it. WHOIS searches will therefore identify me as the registrant at some level."
The One: "Would you care to comment on recent comments about another e-lister, as a "big promoter and marketer" of the FWIS site?"
CH: "A number of sites I've developed are set up to give users a variety of ways to be informed about content - by RSS feeds, mailing lists, or notifications, including the From Where I Sit site. By signing on to the “sit list” at http://www.fromwhereisit.ca/user/register, which is a clearly defined menu option – people can receive email notification of new postings, comments, etc. Likewise, signing on to the RSS feed will provide you with a list of current content without having to register. Anyone can post comments to articles, and registered users can subscribe to specific articles as well.
So the only way you could think of someone having an “inside track” on content would be because they were registered to receive notifications, which anyone can do. Nothing subversive about that – just a site feature."
The One: "There's speculation that you're The One - would you care to comment?"
