No Stoop Too Low
Of late, things have been pretty exciting in The Nation's Capital, what with the prospect of the final, and in our opinion, long overdue parliamentary defenestration of Steven Harper and his band of thugs. Now somewhat delayed, but form where we sit, inevitable nonetheless.
Who woulda thunk it? Finally, rather than rolling over like a wimpy puppy, the Liberals and their new friends have stuck it to the minority that rules like a majority. Unfortunately and largely due to M. Dion's inept performance, the coalition is unravelling more quickly than a cheap sock.
Here's what we've seen so far:
- Whenever Stephen Harper smiles, he looks like he's just finished snacking on an infant.
- His staff, particularly Pierre Poloiviere, look and sound like the high school bullies we all remember - maybe they are. Little mirrors of their boss.
- Jacques Parizeau bears a marked, and somewhat disquieting, resemblance to Jabba the Hutt.
- It was far more important for CTV to switch to ETalk daily than to carry Dion's home video.
- We used to think that Stephane Dion was smart, a breath of fresh air. We're thinking this less now, given his incredibly poorly shot video, and the lack of a coherent message - something that had nothing to do with his difficulties with the English language, and everything to do with his inability to play with others effectively.
- Governor General Michaelle Jean was caught between a rock and a hard place - nothing she could have done would have made everyone happy - somewhat evident from the fact that her Wikipedia entry is currently locked as a result of vandalism. That says more about us than her.
- The Québec Chapter of the Stephen Harper Fan Club is not doing so well.
Steve's dodged the bullet, for now, once again ignoring Canadians and the plummeting economy , but then again, that seems to be the norm on The Hill as all our elected reps take a little 7-week break to plan how to save their political skins. All the best over the holidays, kids.
