On the Metronome Beat
Having recently pulled our copy of the Toronto Sun from under our parrot, we see that Mark Bonkoski has once again been spouting wisdom, or what passes for it at the Sun, about our local Metronome Clinic.
Which in turn has released a flurry of consternation on the rogue Corktown e-list, relating once again to the surfeit of crime, and virtual torrent of all manner of bodily fluids, pointed objects and bad behaviour emanating from the patrons of said clinic.
Tabernouche! One would think, reading some of this, that the Gaping Gates of Hell were open and inhaling local residents in droves.
Surprisingly, this doesn't seem to be the case, at least as evidenced by the comments on the list, none of which seem to emanate from anyone living within several city blocks of the offending establishment. Au contraire, our discussions with some residents within spitting (or whatever) distance from the clinic indicate although they may not like the idea of the clinic being here, the situation was, in fact, worse when that other demonic establishment, Street CIty, was in operation in the area.
Further, as both the Bonkster and various posters on the list have confirmed, few, if any actual factual incidents of any nature have been reported to the local constabulary, which makes it difficult to validate either side of the argument.
So, here's the challenge this week.
Can you provide a specific instance, including date and time, that you reported to the authorities, or if you didn't report it, why not?
Feel free to post your comments, but note that the only ones that will make it through our patented fact-o-meter will be those that include the aforementioned details, particularly facts that include date and time.
Have a great weekend!

#1 Jessica Renwick : Car break in's are up at 48 Sumach, 4 times this year!
I can't remember the exact times of the last two breakins, but the first was on Year's Day this year, mid morning. They didn't break in to our old Honda, but our newish 4 Runner. The first time they got some CD's and a Discman (not worth replacing), but broke windows for nothing the next two times. We think that this has happened when I've taken the dog for a walk, since I didn't notice any damage or glass as I walked out of our yard (which means that someone is watching which is really unnerving). Our neighbour's (15 Bright St.) newish Honda has also been broken into this year. All have been reported to police. However, change has been taken from the our old Honda, but no windows have been broken and no police reports made. I think the problem is that the laneway dead ends into our backyard , so there's not much traffic in the winter. Nothing so far this spring, although I make a point of waving Hi to every srtanger that wanders in to our lane. I've noticed that the police cycle the streets more and occationally come down our lane way. All and all, I think things are getting better, although we felt alittle targetted this winter. Hope these facts help. Let me know if you need file the numbers to verify this, Jessi
